Brooklyn never said "welcome."
But somehow, it let me stay.

A Decade in Brooklyn — detail

"I came searching for something —
maybe for myself."

A personal note from the author

Ten years, one city,
and the slow work of belonging.

I arrived in Brooklyn ten years ago, from São Paulo, Brazil — with a head full of dreams and empty pockets. I came searching for something, maybe for myself. Over the years, I walked through winters that tested me, corners that healed me, and light that taught me to see the world differently.

This book is my quiet love letter to a city that never said "welcome," but somehow let me stay. Like every immigrant, I carry stories of resilience — of rebuilding, of learning to belong without ever being asked to.
